Describe your family/extended family I married in 1972, to Gary Allen and divorced 2007. We lived in Los Angeles, Houston, Texas, San Gabriel and Ventura Counties before relocating to Palm Desert. I remarried in October 2011 to Rich Maciag, a semi-retired, General Contractor, pilot and father of two. I now have a stepdaughter, stepson, two granddaughters and a great grandson.
How have you gained knowledge or continued your education after high school? I have had three careers all of which were educations in and of themselves.
What would like to share about your life's work? I held a career in Retail Management for 20 years as Director of Human Resources and Operations Manager and continued in similar positions within medical imagining and office design, temporary personnel and in Drug/Mental disorder organizations for another 20 years. I have been working on a part time basis as a retail sales clerk in the Waldorf Astoria La Quinta Resort for the past three years until April, 2014, when I chose to retire.
What special interests and/or activities have you enjoyed during the last half century? Cooking; baking; Oil Painting; photography; volunteering for children’s charities.
Please share the highlights of the places you've lived or traveled I have traveled throughout the US during my lifetime and In 1998 spent an entire month traveling in and throughout Austria and parts of Italy.
What is your favorite AHS Memory? Working in the Student Store, YMCA dances.
What are your favorite books or movies? Books: Nelson Demille's Mystery series, Little Women, Crazy Time and Awareness. Movies: An Affair to Remember, Shawshank Redemption, Shirley Valentine, Dirty Dancing, The Help and Lincoln.
What were your favorite songs or artists from 1960 to 1964. What genre of music and type of dance do you enjoy most? Drifters (Save the last dance for me) Dick & Dee Dee (Mountain High) Marvin Gaye (Heard it through the grape vine) Everly Brothers (Crying in the Rain, Wake up little Suzie)
How do you spend your quality time? Enjoying quiet time with my husband and our dog Maggy, walking the beach and visiting with family and friends, painting and taking photos.
In your life thus far, what stands out as most significant, growth-producing, moving, or heart-opening? Learning life's lessons while being tolerant of others.
What matters most to you about the life you've lived? Having the love of family and being happy.
As you move forward into the future, what are your aspirations, hopes, dreams? To grow old gracefully, be a kind and loving companion to my husband, be a supportive force to my step-children, granddaughters and great grand children and be appreciative of each and every day I'm given.
What do you still hope to accomplish or experience? (What's left on your bucket list?) I'd like to visit the East Coast, visit our granddaughter and great grandson in PA and do some motorhome travel right here in the USA
