Aloha from Jo-Anna Romick Mantyla

I had married David Buckland.

In 1969, I moved to Hawaii with a group of friends to establish The American Paramedical Institute. Several of us were in the ambulance and rescue field and thought there should be training. At that time it was a no experience necessary job. We thought of the word Paramedic and formed the EMS field, training and gave an international symposium where 17 countries attended, including Russia, which was unheard of in those days. Out of that a profession was born, The Emergency TV series, telemetry communications, administering on the scene, the EMS EMCT Training program and we received a senate commendation for it.

I learned Transcendental Meditation and went to Spain to learn to teach it with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. We had a baby and bought the Roto Rooter franchise on the Big Island and traded in one type of emergency for another!

I have been to Turkey to see a special ionized water that can remediate all the grease and waste on the planet. It is called Perfect Science.

I am still on the Big Island. David died in 1999. And three years later I married Randy Mantyla. I live in a jungle house at 3200 feet on 75 acres. There are 150 kinds of bamboo and plants and trees from all over the world. Wild cockatoos fly through the trees every morning.

45 years in Hawaii has given me a peaceful life full of joy.
